31 Bullets

Updated: Jun 4, 2021

It's estimated that there are 10 billion bullets sold in the US every year.

That's 31 for every man, woman and child.

31 Bullets are arming people with 31 actions to counter the negative effect that these bullets create. With a powerful branded identity, the campaign educates people about lax gun laws and a flawed legal system that desperately needs to change.

Bullet 1 of 31: Guns in Classrooms

I saw the poster for this campaign at the D&AD show this year and as you can see the subject would clearly catch your eye. The striking design highlights the very worst and yet realistic outcome of guns being allowed in classrooms. People argue for self defence and yet if the laws were tightened on owning and carrying guns in the first place there should never in a millions years be the need for a gun in a classroom. Personally, I don't understand the concept of tackling a gun problem with more guns and this poster shows exactly why.

A series of 31 posters have been designed to represent each of the actions this campaign is arming people with. With a strong graphic presence, these posters only enhance the serious nature of the campaign and add a visual element to what might have been a rather confusing text heavy argument. For those of us who are not familiar with the formality and technical language of laws and legal documents, the posters are a way to follow and still understand the powerful message.

The campaign highlights issues about child lock requirements, concealed carry laws, gun silencers, bulk buying and background checks. It goes on to explain how the National Rifle Association is the single biggest player in shaping America's gun laws, a company who at the end of the day just wants to make money.
